When your French press tastes watery, don't panic. Make one change at a time. Here's a logical order:
- Grind finer—not espresso fine, but a notch or two finer than you'd use in cooler months.
- Increase dose—add 1–2 grams of coffee per 250 ml of water.
- Use hotter water—aim for 200°F (93°C), which is just off the boil.
- Steep slightly shorter—3.5 to 4 minutes instead of your usual 4–5.
Taste after each change. That way you know exactly what fixed it.
