If we could do it over, we'd start with the color-catching sheet from the very first wash. It's the single most effective tool for preventing dye transfer. We'd also skip the salt entirely—it's a waste of time.
And if a tee bleeds heavily after three or four cold washes, that's not a normal issue. That's a sign the dye job is poor, and no amount of vinegar will fix it. At that point, it's better to exchange the tee for a new one rather than trying to salvage it.
One last tip: stain removers can be harsh. If you have a spot, treat it gently with a little detergent and cold water, then wash as usual. Avoid bleach, even on whites—it can strip the color from the graphic.
Remember, a little care goes a long way. With these simple steps, your ring-spun cotton tees will stay crisp and colorful through many wears and washes.
