When you're comparing fits for a gift, here's what actually matters:
- Shoulder seam placement: On a regular fit, the shoulder seam sits right at your shoulder bone. On oversized, it drops a few inches down your arm. That changes the whole drape.
- Body length: Oversized tees are often longer, which is great for tall folks or anyone who likes to tuck. Regular fits hit around the waistband.
- Sleeve length and width: Oversized sleeves are wider and sometimes longer. That can feel breezy in summer but might get in the way if the person is active.
- Fabric weight: This is the hidden spec. A 6 oz cotton tee feels substantial and holds its shape; a 4 oz one is lighter and drapes more. Both fits come in various weights, so don't assume baggy = heavy.
Check the size chart, but also look at the measurements for the specific tee you're eyeing. A "medium" in regular might be a "small" in oversized, depending on the brand.
