✈️ Travel Vaping Etiquette & Rules
✅ Do
- Pack your vape device in carry-on (never checked luggage — battery safety)
- Wait until you're outside the airport to vape
- Research local laws at your destination — rules vary by country and state
- Use nicotine pouches on flights and in no-vape situations
- Be extra discreet in unfamiliar places
❌ Don't
- Vape on planes — illegal, $25K+ fine risk, can divert the flight
- Vape in airport bathrooms (smoke detectors)
- Vape in hotel rooms — many ban it, some have detectors
- Vape in rental cars (cleaning fees if caught)
- Assume the rules are the same as back home
On planes: Just don't. It's not worth the risk. The DOT banned vaping on all US flights in 2016, and fines can be enormous. Some people have even been arrested and had flights diverted. Use nicotine pouches instead — they're allowed, discreet, and zero hassle.
In hotels: Most hotel smoke-free policies include vaping. Enforcement varies — some have sensitive detectors, some don't. But you could get charged a deep cleaning fee ($250+) if they find evidence. The safe move: step outside. If you must, keep the bathroom fan on and crack a window — but know you're taking a risk.
