Here's a systematic way to check if a vape product is real or fake.
Step 1: Check the Packaging
- Compare the packaging to photos from the brand's official website
- Look for spelling errors or grammatical mistakes
- Check print quality β blurry text or faded colors = likely fake
- Verify the logo is correct (size, color, placement)
- Look for lot numbers, expiration dates, and nicotine warnings
- Check for security seals or tamper-evident packaging
Step 2: Check the Product Itself
- Compare the device to official product photos
- Feel the build quality β does it feel solid and well-made?
- Check for proper branding on the device itself
- Test the draw and flavor β does it taste right?
- Check for leaks or manufacturing defects
- For disposables: check the puff count indicator (if applicable) β fakes often die way before the advertised puff count
Step 3: Verify the Code (If Available)
- Look for an authentication code, QR code, or serial number on the package
- Go to the brand's official website and find their verification page
- Enter the code or scan the QR code
- If it says "invalid code" or "already verified," it might be fake
- Note: not all brands offer this β but the ones that do are usually legitimate
Step 4: Verify the Seller
- Is the seller an established retailer with a good reputation?
- Do they have a physical address and phone number?
- Can you find independent reviews of the seller?
- Do they have proper age verification?
- Is the price close to MSRP, or is it suspiciously low?
Step 5: Trust Your Gut
If something feels off β the price is too low, the packaging looks cheap, the seller seems sketchy β trust your instincts. It's better to skip a "deal" than to end up with a dangerous counterfeit product.
