Summer trips are supposed to be easy. But if you're packing a vaporizer, a little prep goes a long way. You don't want to be that person at security digging through a bag full of loose batteries.
Start with a full charge. Not 80%, not "I'll charge it at the airport." Full. Then clean the mouthpiece and threads with a dry cloth. A clean device performs better and looks more discreet when you're pulling it out later.
Next, think about what you're actually carrying. If you have a device that takes replaceable batteries, take them out and store them in a protective case. Loose lithium batteries in a pocket are a no-go. If your device has a built-in battery, make sure it's not going to switch on accidentally in your bag—most have a lock feature, so use it.
Pack a small maintenance kit: a microfiber cloth, a few cotton swabs, and a tiny brush for the connection points. You don't need a full cleaning station, just the essentials to handle a drip or a bit of dust.
Finally, if you're carrying any e-liquid, remember the 3-1-1 rule for carry-ons. Keep bottles under 3.4 ounces and put them in a clear quart-sized bag. Tanks and cartridges should be empty or nearly empty to avoid leaks from pressure changes.
Do: Charge fully, clean, lock, and pack smart. Don't: Leave batteries loose or carry full tanks.
