Hands down, it's the mouthpiece. It gets dropped, chewed, or just wears out from heat. On compact models, the mouthpiece is often made of thin plastic or cheap metal that bends. Look for one that's replaceable or at least easy to pop off and soak in warm soapy water. If the mouthpiece is fixed, you'll have to clean it in place, which is a pain.
