Walk-in #1: "My airflow ring is leaking—what do I check first?"
This is the most common one I get. The airflow ring sits right where you twist to adjust draw resistance, and that twist action can work against the seal. Here's the checklist I run through with most people:
Power off and disassemble. Take off the mouthpiece and pull the airflow ring off if your device lets you. Wipe down all the surfaces with a dry cloth. Often the leak is just pooled condensation, not an actual seal failure.
Inspect the O-rings. These are the rubber circles that create the seal. Look for cracks, nicks, or if they've rolled out of their groove. A misaligned O-ring is the top cause of leaks at the connection.
Re-seat gently. Don't yank. Use your fingernail to nudge the O-ring back into place. Then reassemble—finger-tight is enough. Over-tightening squashes the ring and breaks the seal.
If the leak stops, you're done. If it doesn't, move to the next step.
Walk-in #2: "I cleaned it and it still leaks—now what?"
Okay, so the O-rings look fine and the device is dry, but it's still weeping at the connection. What's left?
Residue buildup. If you've been using thicker e-liquid, residue can build up around the airflow ring and create a path for liquid to escape. Dip a cotton swab in isopropyl alcohol and wipe the ring and the channel it sits in. Let it dry completely before reassembling.
Check the mouthpiece seal. Some mouthpieces have their own O-ring. If that one is worn, it can leak even when the airflow ring is fine.
Look at how you're storing it. If you're laying the device flat with a full tank, gravity is working against you. Store it upright when it's not in use. That's a simple fix that prevents a lot of leaks.
If you've done all this and it still leaks, the O-ring may be too worn to seal. That's a part that can be replaced on some devices—check the manual.
Walk-in #3: "When should I stop using it?"
This is the safety line. A small leak at the mouthpiece that you can clean and monitor is one thing. But there are red flags that mean stop using the device now:
Liquid in the battery compartment. If you see e-liquid near the battery or it feels wet when you open the battery door, do not charge it. That's a fire risk. Stop using it and contact the manufacturer.
Overheating. If the device gets hot to the touch during normal use, that's a sign something's wrong. Stop using it.
Persistent leaks after fixes. If you've cleaned and re-seated everything and it still leaks, don't keep using it in hopes it'll stop. It won't.
In those cases, stop using the device, contact the manufacturer or your retailer, and don't try to charge a liquid-compromised device.

Most leaks at the connections are preventable. The common thread is maintenance: keep the O-rings clean and seated, don't over-tighten, store upright, and address residue early. A few minutes of care can save you from a sticky mess and a potentially unsafe device.
