VG (vegetable glycerin) and PG (propylene glycol) make up about 90% of your e-liquid. The ratio between them determines throat hit, cloud production, flavor intensity, and which devices you can use.
VG is thick, sweet, and produces dense clouds. It carries flavor poorly on its own. PG is thin, nearly tasteless, and carries flavor extremely well. It produces almost no visible vapor and gives you the throat hit you feel.
50/50 VG/PG — The standard for pod systems and MTL tanks. Thin enough to wick through small coil ports. Strong throat hit. Good flavor. Moderate clouds. This is what most nic salt juices use.
70/30 VG/PG — The all-rounder. Works in most sub-ohm tanks and some larger pod systems. Good clouds, good flavor, smooth throat hit. Most freebase juices use this ratio.
Max VG (80%+) — For cloud-chasing sub-ohm tanks and RDAs only. Huge clouds, minimal throat hit, slightly muted flavor. Will not wick in pod systems. Will cause dry hits and burnt coils.
If you're getting dry hits in a pod system, check your VG/PG ratio. Anything above 60% VG is too thick for most pod coils. Switch to 50/50 and the problem goes away.
