Here is something most shops will not tell you: vape juice is one of the simplest consumer products on the market. Four ingredients. That is it. Understanding what each one does will make you a better buyer than 90% of vapers walking into a shop today.
Propylene Glycol (PG). The carrier. PG is thin, almost watery. It carries flavor molecules better than VG and delivers the throat hit — that satisfying scratch at the back of your throat. It produces less vapor. If you want a cigarette-like hit, you want higher PG. A 50/50 ratio is the sweet spot for most pod systems. Below 30% PG and you lose the throat hit almost entirely.
Vegetable Glycerin (VG). The cloud producer. VG is thick, slightly sweet on its own, and produces dense vapor. It mutes flavor slightly compared to PG and adds zero throat hit. High-VG liquids — 70/30 and above — are designed for sub-ohm tanks and direct-lung vaping. If you put 70/30 in a pod system, two things happen: the coil struggles to wick it, and the flavor feels hollow.
Nicotine. The stimulant. Available as freebase or salt. Freebase hits harder on the throat, absorbs slower, and is what you find in most traditional liquids. Nicotine salt is smoother, absorbs faster, and lets you comfortably vape higher strengths — 10mg and 20mg are common. The nicotine type determines the entire feel of the vape before flavor even enters the conversation.
Flavorings. The identity. Food-grade flavor concentrates suspended in PG. Usually 5-15% of the total liquid by volume. The rest is PG and VG doing the heavy lifting.
That is the entire ingredient list. Four things. Any liquid that claims otherwise is either misinformed or lying.
