You don't need a lab of your own to get the signal. Here's a cheap way to do it:
- Ask for the COA for your specific batch—not a sample report, not a generic certificate. Be direct: "Send me the COA for the batch I'm ordering."
- Cross-check the lab. Look up the lab's name online. Is it accredited? Does it have a website? If it's a no-name lab, that's a signal.
- Compare multiple reports from the same supplier. If every batch comes back with identical numbers, that's suspicious. Real products have variation.
- Use a simple checklist. Print out the signals above and check each report against it. Takes five minutes, saves you a lot of headache.
You can also ask your supplier to walk you through the report. If they can't explain the methods or results, that tells you something.
