When you're doing competitor analysis, don't get swayed by nostalgia or hype. Just because a product was popular three years ago doesn't mean it's still competitive. The market moves fast, and what was cutting-edge then might be outdated now.
Instead, focus on what works today: real performance, honest specs, and compliance with current regulations. For example, if you're looking at a device, check the battery capacity in milliamp-hours (mAh) and compare it to the actual power output. A 3000mAh battery might not be enough if the device runs at 80 watts.
Similarly, look at the coil material and resistance. Ceramic coils last longer but might not give the same flavor as mesh coils. That's a trade-off you need to weigh, not just a spec to list.
The same logic applies to e-liquids. Don't buy based on flavor name alone. Ask for the full ingredient list, including the base (PG/VG ratio), nicotine source, and any additives. Check for certifications like ISO or GMP compliance, and beware of products that won't share this information.
Finally, think about your distribution. A competitor analysis should include the supply chain. Who are the real manufacturers? Are they reliable? Can they meet your volume needs without sacrificing quality? The cheapest option isn't always the best if it means dealing with an unreliable supplier.
