Flavor & Vapor
The JUUL2's advanced thermal technology delivers more consistent vapor and nicotine delivery than the original JUUL. JUUL Labs' behavioral pharmacology data found that Polar Menthol–flavored 18 mg/mL JUUL2 pods were rated as significantly more satisfying than menthol-flavored pod-based ENDS with 5% nicotine concentrations — a notable finding given that JUUL2 uses roughly one-third the nicotine concentration.
The Glas G2's triple-coil system produces robust vapor for a closed-pod device, and its 5% nicotine strength provides a stronger throat hit. With five authorized flavors including mango (Gold) and blueberry (Sapphire), it offers the most flavor variety in the FDA-authorized pod market. The original JUUL delivers adequate but unremarkable vapor — its 200mAh battery and 0.7mL pods simply can't match the newer devices.
Battery Life
Both JUUL2 and Glas G2 feature 350mAh batteries — a significant improvement over the original JUUL's ~200mAh. In real-world use, both devices should last most of a day for moderate users. The original JUUL needs charging at least once daily, sometimes twice for heavier users. The Glas G2's 20-minute charge time is the fastest in this group; the JUUL2 takes approximately one hour via its magnetic dock.
Leak Resistance
JUUL2's Pod ID chip creates a sealed pod-to-device connection that reduces leakage. The Glas G2 uses an anti-leak pod design with aligned insertion. The original JUUL's pods have a known history of occasional leakage — one of the persistent complaints about the first-generation design. We have not conducted independent leak testing; these assessments are based on manufacturer specifications and aggregated user reports.
Age Verification & Access Control
This is where the three devices diverge most significantly:
- JUUL2: One-time setup. Download the JUUL App, upload a government ID, take a selfie, and the system verifies your age and identity. After verification, the device operates normally. Pod authentication prevents counterfeit pods from working. The ongoing friction after initial setup is relatively low.
- Original JUUL: No device-level age verification. Age checks happen at point of sale, as with any tobacco product. No pod authentication — counterfeit and compatible pods can be used.
- Glas G2: Continuous verification. Government ID upload, 3D selfie, and then the device must stay paired to the verified phone via Bluetooth. Random biometric re-checks during use. Device locks if separated from the phone. This is the strictest age-verification system the FDA has authorized to date.
