Ni80 (Nichrome): The fastest ramp-up. The flavor is slightly muted compared to SS316L. Wattage mode only. The coil lasts 1-2 months. This is the wire for cloud-chasers who prioritize ramp-up speed over everything else.
Titanium (Ti): Temperature control only. Never dry-fire titanium — it oxidizes at high temperatures and produces harmful compounds. This is the wire for experienced TC users. It's the least common and the least forgiving.
Start with Kanthal. Master wattage mode. Then try SS316L with temperature control. The other wire types are niche options that you'll explore when you know what you're doing.
